Cage-free Commitments
Across Asia, companies are making cage-free commitments to improve animal welfare and end the cruel confinement of hens. While these pledges are a step forward, progress is often slow, with many lacking clear timelines and transparency. Today, over 90% of Asia’s egg-laying hens are still kept in cramped cages, unable to engage in natural behaviors like nesting or spreading their wings. This not only harms the animals but also raises concerns about food safety, as cage systems are linked to higher disease risks.
